Blackletter evolved during the Gothic Period of the Middle Ages. The beautiful texture which was made with tightly spaced vertical strokes was characteristic.

There are many styles of Blackletter including Gothic cursive.

The lessons cover analysis of 15th century Gothic Textura, writing basic strokes with edged-pen and combine these strokes to build up the letters of the alphabet, letter spacing, writing texts in different nib sizes, changing weight, and design layout. Works of framed art or manuscript book are created for the final projects.
